The British Cowboy

Hello, my name is Josh Gresty but I am also known as The British Cowboy!

 

I’m a family man and I’ve never been one to hide what I admire. Britain is home through and through but America has a way of getting under your skin. I got married in Las Vegas this year before pointing a Ford Mustang toward the open desert with my wife riding shotgun. That feeling of heat, horsepower and freedom confirmed it - I’ve a lasting fondness for the States.

When it comes to whisky (or whiskey if you're Irish or American), I’ll speak plainly: I enjoy the American pour. Bourbon and Tennessee whiskey bring that sweeter edge, less restrained and more confident than many traditional British styles. It suits my palate and, if I’m honest, my character.

 

My upcoming American influenced tasting events starting with the first evening at Carriages in Oswestry on 28th February 2026 are built around sharing that love of bold flavours with good company. But more on that later.

Although I love the American culture, I am a Briton through to my core, I have an unconditional love the the U.K. where I am proud to call myself a citizen. Here in Britain I live a straightforward working life where I manage part of the north Wales highway network that weaves between the England & Wales borders. It is also in the border town of Oswestry, Shropshire where I am a 72kg boxer fighting out of Oswestry Boxing Club, bringing pride to myself and the local community.
